Coronavirus vaccines: Do I still need to wear a mask and social distance if I get a COVID vaccine?

The short answer is yes. Although vaccines will be tremendously helpful in the fight against COVID, the primary endpoint tested in clinical trials was the number of people who got sick from COVID, comparing the vaccinated group to the unvaccinated (placebo) group. It is not fully understood how well the vaccine stops people from transmitting the SARS-CoV-2 virus to others. More studies are needed to answer this question.
